Day 1: Foundational Principles of Meditation

So much of what is promoted as meditation has strayed from its true purpose, and as a result there are many myths surrounding the practise of meditation. Today we look at the importance of discernment, and the foundational principles of meditation (as well as starting our meditation practise).  The first part of this course supports you to de-construct old ways and patterns that don’t support you to live with connection. Some people may have knocked down a few walls and others may have even decided to demolish the whole house (hats off to you guys).

Day 2: Working out what you are feeling

When you meditate, you are essentially feeling everything your body and your being has been communicating with you all day. At first, this may feel overwhelming or even jumbled up but over time this communication becomes very clear and insightful. On Day 2, we dive in and start to explore what your body has been communicating with you.

Day 3: Meditation Myths, Gentleness and Staying Committed With New Changes.

Today we look at some meditation myths, and how Day 3 will try and unravel you in your new practise.  Part of being able to hold steady with new changes and rhythms in your life is having an authentic care and love for yourself when obstacles are popping up. Making change cannot be strictly willpower, as this is short lasting and creates all sorts of other tension in your body (more about this in other courses). Today we also add in a new meditation audio for you to explore, and we will also discuss some of the principles of gentleness. Enjoy!

Day 4: Building The Foundation

Today we begin to lay a foundation for the second part of the course (and beyond). The second part of this course starts to rebuild new ways of being that support a true inner-connection.  We discuss how now is the time to come back to the foundations of life and establish a marker of quality (Hint: Gentleness is the key!). This marker of quality is important as it is a feeling that allows you to draw a new line in the sand of what is important to you.

Day 5: The Nitty Gritty

Now it is time to get into the nitty-gritty of what your meditation practise is teaching you. Specifically, what your meditation is reflecting to you about the quality of energy you run yourself on throughout the day. Day 5 is such a revealing day, it is where you take your insight and awareness from kindergarten to Ancient Greek Philosopher - move over Plato!

Day 6: Self Love (And Opening a Can of Worms!)

Today’s focus for meditation is on self-care and self-love. One of the things I come across a lot in clinical practise is people who can care for others but not truly care for themselves. Quite often, people will feel guilty when they decide to take even the slightest care of themselves. This is where I turn this type of thinking on its head and support people to feel comfortable in caring ... and possibly even loving themselves.

Day 7: Completing Cycles

Today is an important day for reflection, as one cycle ends and another begins. Meditation can be part of our commitment to our health and also to our healing, but this is only true if it is part of daily life. As you complete this meditation course it is very important to make connection a part of everyday life.

Hi Rebecca, Today was a mixture of a busy vs chaos, vs stressful situations but I adapted to what was thrown my way and dealt with it. Working as an Early Childhood Educator will do that to you lol. Today I used the Gentle Breath Meditation at the children’s rest time and for me it gave me a sense of being, I was able to relax myself to the point that the children nodded off quite quickly, sleeping for quite some time. Tonight as I began my meditation I felt a sense of feeling free, like floating on the waves of the ocean, rocking back and forth, tonight I sense I will drift off into a peaceful restful sleep. Prior to these classes I found it hard to relax and settle my mind and the feelings within my body. However now I’m sleeping better and I’m understanding my body more and accepting any cues it’s giving me. I can calm myself quickly if I become anxious, or out of sorts. I’ve learnt a lot from this course about myself and the way in which I present myself to myself and others. It’s been quite a learning curve. Thank you Rebecca for sharing your insights and knowledge and your time preparing such an inspirational piece of knowledge that I and others can use in our everyday lives. In the last meditation I felt a deep settlement, a stillness that was deeper than that which I had previously called settlement. Toward the end of the meditation before I opened my eyes I had to give myself a couple of moments to really feel this (how it was in my breath, my body, my chest etc) and appreciate that I (with the support of this amazing course) had chosen to allow myself to go to this depth. I had to give myself a few moments to register and accept this settlement.
