In this module we learn how to truly deal with stress with a detailed and comprehensive approach. When we nominate that we have stress in our life, we start the process of dealing with the stressful issue and understanding the mechanisms that create it. When we don’t honestly nominate what we are feeling or experiencing, nothing changes, and we are in fact endorsing the outplay of stress in our life and ingraining our relationship with it.
A lot of people think stress is normal but it’s not. Our understanding of stress is often skewed because we have been putting up with stress for so long, we can even forget how it feels to not be stressed. We just go from more stressed to less stressed and then back to more stressed again. If we look around us, most people we know are struggling with the same merry-go-round of stress, so it can be difficult to know what is truly normal or not. How many engaged, active and purposeful role models do you have in your life? Ones who are not stressed. Most everywhere we turn, people are stressed.
By now you have a pretty good understanding of what types of stress you have playing out in your life. The next step in de-stressing your life is to map the detail of where and how it plays out. In modules 4 and 5 we build on this as we look at the why it plays out.
Have you ever wondered, “what is life all about?” What if I was to say that every single person has a depth to them, an essence? Sure, not everyone accesses this depth but for everyone it is a potential, waiting for them to tap into. In this module we explore the Why of the equation and find out what our stress is actually telling us. In simple terms, we could say that our potential gets buried under life, conditions, hurts, burdens, self-loathing, lack of self-worth, you name it – the layers are many and the stress is an outplay of many of these things.
Maybe you haven’t ever considered that your stress could be an addiction. Are you someone who struggles with sitting still? Are you someone who seems to thrive on deadlines? Are you someone who replays the stress over and over in your head? Addressing the addictive aspect of stress is important. In this module we take a close look at the role of addiction in stress and how to let go of it.
Have you ever felt like your stress is crowding in on you? You are not alone. In this module I am going to teach you a few techniques that support you to claim back some space in your life, so you can breathe again, making it much easier to see the weeds and pull them out, allowing even more space to breath. A self-nurturing cycle that supports you rather than the snow ball effect of stress that can build to an avalanche.
In this module I bring in a few new concepts that can completely change your life. In the Healing and Stress video, I introduce two topics: being a student of life and living in cycles. Both of these topics are extremely important to explore, and they really do turn life as we know it on its head.
Throughout this course I talk extensively about stress and the mechanisms behind what creates and continuously enables our stress. In this bonus module I take a look at what are some of the more physical affects we can experience with stress.
